I'll keep this brief, here my thoughts are more or less the same as with blue skies, but there's a couple other things that drag it down a star...

1. The beginning does not fit the mood of the rest of the song, it isn't a bad start, it just doesn't sound much like a song called "Summer Day"

2. A little too much of this song is uplifters, (by uplifters I mean transitional devices, stuff that's supposed to build up to a drop) they don't sound bad, but they're not supposed to take up much of a song and about half of this song has uplifters! Again, just like the volume jumping problem from Blue Skies, it's not jarring; but it's noticeable. It won't ruin the song, but it does distract me from it. I understand this is quite a short piece and I imagine that's the problem, so I would recommend in future to either cut down on the uplifters, or lengthen the piece to spread them out.

3. The drop, I'm sorry, but this is where everything just fell apart! Luckily it's short, but everything that is added to the mix at the drop ruins it... You seem to be pretty harsh on yourself with the detune, all of your songs except your second one are pretty good at balancing it and even your second one wasn't so bad, but here... It's fine until the drop, but then it just sounds like a mess of frequencies! It's not all too unpleasant, but it does take the flow and excitement out of the song, and disappoints after all the buildup.

That third reason's the real kicker, I would've still given this 4 or maybe 4.5 stars if the drop was fine, but it knocked you down to 3.5. I know I said I'd be quick, but when I start on one of my tangents, nothing can stop me...

Score: 73/100

P.S. 30-40 MINUTES!? That's believable, but still pretty damn fast for such nice sounding synths!

Tomodachi999 responds:

Thanks soo much for the feedback!

Jesus, how do you keep doing this? You've only made 3 songs and all of them are better than my what? 50 or something... It's just unbelievable how quickly you've sprung up... As for the music itself, for once I didn't have high expectations coming in! After hearing what you could do my expectations were pretty high, but then I see you've departed from dubstep and see the title is Blue Skies. Dance is usually a pretty predictable generic genre if you ask me, and the title didn't really grab me, so I was afraid this would be boring and generic... BY GOD WAS I WRONG! Despite departing from dubstep it still has an imprint on your music, you seem to have stayed true to the heavy detune and distortion of it, which makes this unique and interesting. It's just simply smooth, with a nice atmosphere and nice synths. There are only 2 problems here...
1. Sometimes the music moves too suddenly, it flows, but sometimes from quiet solos it jumps straight to harsh, loud synths. Not jarring, but noticeable.
2. It is overall unique, but it feels like it could've been a little more, maybe a little longer? As close as this is to 5 stars, while pretty much flawless, it just doesn't sound like 5 star material...

I'd still say your first was your best, but this is your 2nd best in my eyes.

Ayy

This is real good, got some real atmospheric synths going on here. I like it, but I have 1 complaint. I feel like this song would sound better if it was compressed, pacing wise, not mastering wise. I feel like if more had happened, albeit in a shorter time this would've been a more exciting track. What's there is good though, and especially that weird "ayaiyai" flanged (I think) wobble at 1:52, though that did sound a bit out of place.

Also, I think you're already scouted! XD

Triented responds:

I AM SO GLAD SOMEONE FELL FOR DAT XD

I rly appreciate your review. I don't get that many!

This is great but the length is disproportionate to the amount of substance, it's still enjoyable but other people tend to be impatient when songs reuse material for so long, I liked it but others probably won't.

F33F responds:

Soooo... Are you saying I should like, cut to the chase on my songs? Instead of doing like the kicks at the beginning, and not make the intro before the drop so long, just make it maybe a few measures long and then get to the more interesting part?

*Clicks Tongue* Noyce. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) This is some pretty good stuff for a first upload. Also very clever of you to make your first upload ambient, you don't need a lot of stuff to make good ambient, you just need care for your work and some knowledge with synths.

Anyway, this is pretty good. It succeeds in creating an atmosphere which is the most important thing to do in ambient. By keeping the atmosphere airy, but warm, not harsh; you've created a track that's comforting. The synths are high and bright, creating an optimistic sound nothing is too sudden with use of attack and release.

However, I do have one problem with this. It's slow, but it's a bit too slow. Here's where the main challenge comes with ambient, you've gotta keep it relaxing, but somewhat exciting. I wouldn't expect anyone to nail that balance on a first track, so don't get yourself down, but that's the one thing keeping it from 5 stars. I think this would've worked much better as a longer song so it had more time to transition so you could create an environment with your sound to keep it interesting but calm. Still, amazing first track 4 stars.

I'm not scouting you yet, because this is your only song, but if more comes I probably will. I have my own little system I use to decide to scout people

If I rate something 5 stars: 1 more upload of 2 or more stars
4.5: 2 more uploads of 2 or more stars or 1 more of 4 or more
4: 2 more uploads of 2.5 or more stars or 1 more upload of 4 or more
3.5: 4 more of 3.5 or more or 1 more of 5
3: 5 more of 3 or more or 2 more of 4.5 ormore
2.5 - 0: unchanged opinion

'course I break the pattern if I feel it's necessary, but that's what I tend to do.

I'm sorry I haven't said much useful in my reviews, it's just that this music is difficult to describe. I struggle to find the words for my praise and criticism without repeating myself, because all of these are similar, yet different... Scouted

Wow, very trippy! Kinda reminds me of Pyro's intro. Like the use of audio clips and FX, the whole track sounds wet, which for a trippy track is good.

I'd say this is trap-like trance. Anyway, very effective in creating its atmosphere. I would complain about the repetitiveness, but in trance, ambient and other chill-out genres repetitiveness is required. Like the trippy voices

... Seriously, I'm genuinely trying to think of some way this isn't real, but I haven't found any signs that this is not legit. Right, amazing, scouted. Not as good as your last one for one reason though... The detune at the drop is crazy! I know dubstep is supposed to use a lot of detune, but that was just way too much. The rest of this song is exciting and well mastered and by god... THAT ENDING!

Tomodachi999 responds:

;3;

Man... Wish I could create an atmosphere like that in my house, then again I barely do house, so maybe it's just not my style and I should just stick to dubstep. Near perfect, just needs some more substance (I'm finding myself saying that a lot on NG recently) the piano is masterfully mastered PUN INTENDED! XD but, it spends too long as the lone focus of the song. It needs some variation in tune, or another instrument for some polyphony, or anything to make it different. The drop also needs something more, again what's there is near perfect, but there isn't much of what's there. It sounds a bit empty to me, but maybe that's just because I think the kinda music that's popular now takes minimalism too far.

DJ-Zyzyx responds:

It does need more noises, I agree XD and yeah theres just another problem you didn't find and that's clipping! (very minor tho)

I make Dubstep.
