Wow, that was beautiful!

The pianos have a perfect balance of power and softness, the reverbs perfectly fill the gaps, and it's simply emotional. The pluck synths are surprisingly varied and compliment the voice and instrumentation very well, and the voice, Jesus! Your voice is amazing, even if it is autotuned, it's good autotuning! The little effects like the tape stops are the icing on the cake.

Then the drop is crazy, energetic and very unpredictable, perfectly complimenting the syncopated style of dubstep. I do have criticisms about this piece, but not many of them, one of them being the drop does have a bit too much "White noise". Still, there is amazing use of juxtaposing volumes, and amazing variety.

The singing is a little repetitive, but I've heard MUCH more annoyingly repetitive lyrics, so it's fine. As well as that, it's worth mentioning I hate music with vocals usually, so it's even more impressive you made something with lyrics enjoyable for me.

I understand the kinda mood of this song works better with higher pitches, but one complaint I do have is I feel there isn't enough bass at the drops. Sometimes it feels like there's a real lack of power and momentum with the synths due to this.

Still, the attention to detail, simple quality; variety, uniqueness, mood; basically everything else about this track is perfect and gets it its 5 stars. The only other complaint I have is that the ending's a little too sudden, very minor complaint.

Overall score: 94/100

Bullet point review:

- The buildup is long and monotonous, it REALLY overstays its welcome...

- The beat is pretty sweet, if a bit light, got a lot of swing and momentum

- The bitcrushed speaking wobble is really clean

- It's also the only dubstep synth here...

GalacticPenguinz responds:

Yeah, this was mostly an experiment, I'll keep that in mind next time. Thanks for the feedback!

Pretty good, really nails the atmosphere and adds more kick to it. Still I must say, I thought this was a bit lacking in variety. The synths themselves were very good but everyone gets sick of any synth after hearing it too many times...

I was also disappointed to see the fast-paced aggressive stabs left out of this remix, they were my favourite part of the original. Still the amazing synths and soundscaping gets this a 4 In my books, despite its repetitiveness.

I was going to remix this after my melodic dubstep remix of Ice Cap Zone went so well, I'll see how it goes and if I come up with anything good, but it seems you covered track pretty good. If it doesn't work out, our listeners will still have a great remix of the track in this.

Schematist responds:

Thanks for the feedback . Honestly, a big part of me wants to try remixing this song again. Only because it is one of my favorites from the series and I learned a lot since I made this track. I would love to see your perspective on this track when you get around to it. Now I have to find your ice cap zone remix though. Cheers!

This was a pleasant surprise! I was going to do a Hydrocity remix, and I went to check out the competition. I was mostly expecting music that doesn't try to do much and does it well enough with a few odd quirks. This, while it still doesn't try to do much, does it impeccably at a professional level! This is honestly so well-made that I'm not even gonna make one myself now, 'cause you did it so well I don't think there'd be much point in hearing mine!

There are only 2 things that prevented you from getting that 5 star rating:
1. It's so repetitive I often can't identify which part of the song I'm listening to
2. It doesn't really go the extra mile in terms of content although it certainly does in terms of mastering.

By the way to any of you looking for more Sonic 3 remixes, I recently made a melodic dubstep remix of Ice cap zone that I'm quite happy with, it hasn't gotten any feedback yet though despite getting about 350 plays (Thanks to all my listeners). If any of you guys would check it out and tell me what you think, that would be GREATLY appreciated, I ALWAYS respond.

Wait... I made a melodic dubstep track called ascension before this... Zyzyx... Are you taking some ideas from me? XD

DJ-Zyzyx responds:

I've actually had the name for a few months lol! Thanks for the review mate :D

WOW, that was beautiful! I was looking for a good song for a GD level that would take place in a sky-based paracosm with space elements in the background, but I thought there was no way I'd find a song on NG that fit my requirements, but this did!

It really nails the ethereal mood in music, where it's all in the mastering.

I usually say more In my reviews, but there isn't much to talk about here, as it succeeds on a massive scale but in a basic way. There aren't many flaws to talk about. The only complaints I have are:

1. The cymbal swells are sound WAY too much like just white noise, it's unpleasant and breaks the immersion with its juxtaposition from the rest of the piece, at least reduce the high end volume...

2. There isn't much variety in the synths at all, as good as this piece is, sometimes I can't hear much difference from part to part...

kylermannn responds:

Haha, glad you liked it man. I definitely know what you mean about the symbols sounding like garbage and the synths lacking any varience, though. I definitely agree with that.

Back when I made this, I would shove way too many saws n stuff together, make them play the same notes at the same time, I wouldn't EQ ANY of it, and everything would sound suuuper over saturated. You can hardly even hear the cymbals, basses, and snares in each chorus haha. I would also leave the limiter on the master, so pretty much everything I made back then would have way too much noise going on at one time, and then it would all get mega compressed / limited. This is probably why the cymbal swells are so jacked up. I'm definitely not saying I'm a pro at it all now, but a lot of my earlier stuff makes me cringe pretty hard.

Also, I can take a whack at making it sound a bit better if you'd like me to, just let me know :]

I make Dubstep.
